What to Expect

Because each person has different issues and goals, therapy will be different depending on the individual. We advise clients going into their first session to consider three ideas to decide if they feel comfortable working with our therapists:

Do you feel understood and seen?

Do you feel safe?

Do you feel that you can develop a relationship with me?

So much of our therapy goes back to the relationship and how you feel working with whomever you choose. If there is something on your mind, there should be an atmosphere of safety and trust that allows you to talk about it without feeling judged.

Therapy is a client-focused experience, meaning you will get more results from therapy if you actively participate in the process.

The ultimate purpose of therapy is to incorporate what you learn in session in your life:

You come in with a problem or symptoms that are bothering you, and you hope that someone who is trained to listen and understand can help

However, it’s also very common to feel like you come to therapy not really knowing what they want to focus on or gain from the process, but that you know you want and/or need to make changes in your life. Where ever your starting point is, we can work together to help make sense of what’s going on and where we can go from here.
