Stacy McWhinnie

Seeking help is the first step, and often the most difficult step, to healing. My passion is helping people grow into the best version of themselves. As your therapist, my focus is to create a warm, safe, and relaxed environment. We will create a treatment plan together to achieve your goals. I work with individuals with PTSD, mood disorders, anxiety, depression, and co-occurring disorders, among others.

Education

Once I was discharged from active duty, I was able to enlist in the reserves while working on my bachelor’s degree in Psychology, graduating in 2001 from the University of Massachusetts in Boston.  Discharging with a Purple Heart, I chose psychology with the intent of working with veterans and people that have survived traumatic experiences. 

Since then, I have worked in power plant construction and as a Veteran representative in both Massachusetts and again once I relocated to Florida. 

I found that my ability to help people had hit a wall so to speak, so I returned to school, graduating from Simmons University in 2019 with an MSW. I found that not only has my education allowed me to be a more effective counselor, but it has also helped me to become more self-aware and grow as a human. My diverse background allows me to connect easily with a wide variety of individuals.
